RSD/CRPS 4 a Cure

This question makes me think so hard. It makes me question how hard I’m working in therapy. I haven’t started touch therapy but I wonder if I knew for a fact that it would work if I would just willingly jump into it. Do you guys agree? Therapy is hard. It is awful. It is painful. It is worth it though. Every time it hurts we have to crave more of that hurt, which I know sounds crazy but I have been able to use that pain to fuel my fire. Even though I am not on pointe at the moment (not because of RSD but because of an injury) when I was in training and my feet would feel like they were on fire and were gonna break off- I used that to make myself work harder. I let myself get angry at the pain. I would practically scream at the pain to go away and every time it hurt I would push a little harder to try to show the RSD that I was in charge. I just had to do it. I is therapy to challenge me and to strengthen me. How do you use therapy? Last year 2 weeks ago I was on the phone with my dance teacher crying and telling her how I probably couldn’t do pointe and she said well then let’s not work for pointe anymore. I was devastated. Depressed. Angry that I had worked since I was 6 1/2 for this and now it was never gonna happen. And now a year later I am on pointe doing JUMPS and TURNS and SKIPS on pointe!!!! Wow. I overcame something I thought I couldn’t. I would like to take all the credit but if my coach hadn’t come to me 2 months later and said “i think that you could do it” and if she hadn’t shown me it was possible i would not be on pointe today. Thank you Karen for everything that you do more me everyday. Thank you for encouraging me and pushing me past my limit (well sometimes lol) What are some of your goals? So I have started something Called progression (basically a therapy) that my coach and I have created to help me conquer touch. Next year I’m a senior and then College is around the corner so I need to conquer this, it is a 2 year plan. The goal is that I can hug and receive hug from my family when I leave for college. I am so far out of my comfort zone!!! Its crazy! I am ready to beat this though. How are all of your therapies going? If I had one wish… I know exactly what I would do with it I would cure RSD. I think alot of us would wish for the same thing but see no matter how hard we wish for something it won’t change a situation. Prayer will but wishing won’t. I am dancing all the time on pointe. Because I prayed that I would be able to get on pointe and now I am and will NEVER lose that skill. What are you hoping to do? How are you going to make your wish come true? Alot of the time everyone always says “it will get better… I promise.” and in our heads we just go.. “ya right” but see it will someday. My life has ups and downs all the time! Somedays are better than others but a good friend of mine once told me “Cass, I know that you are hurting but just know it won’t always be like this.” and I remember just sitting with that thought and realizing how much truth was in that. So maybe you and I this time need to promise ourselves that it will get better. Even if some of us don’t physically get better we may get better emotionally or spiritually, I know I am still hoping to get better physically. Yes. I have changed but for the better. I could have become bitter and fearful and lazy. But I didn’t I became content, courageous, and determined. Even though I am in pain ALL the time and am NEVER medically ok— if you told me that you had a magic wand that could erase the RSD but I hadto give up the past 6 years of my life…. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I have changed and grown so much and would not be able to fulfill God’s plan for my life without the RSD. Hey doctors and all of you that never believed in me back in September and didn’t think that I could be on pointe well guess what I’m on pointe because I am stronger than ever and will never back down because I am a fighter.
